Favorite Cities to Visit: Massachusetts

Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

The anchor state of New England has so many attractions from Boston to the Cape, why would Bay Staters go anywhere else?

Well, they do go to other states, and one of them might shock you in this, the first year of legal Massachusetts sports betting.

BetMassachusetts.com took a break from sports betting coverage to look at the favored travel destinations of people in the Bay State.

With Google Trends, we determined the most searched cities with the term “Flights To” and finding the most often searched city at the end of the phrase. After completing the trends over the past 12 months (from June 25, 2022, to June 25, 2023), we were able to find results to get the top three cities for the state of Massachusetts. Of course, any cities within the state were not included.

The top two cities would not surprise anyone in the least because, at some point, you probably will travel there.

Orlando and Miami are the top two cities. Florida is where Bay Staters go to when they want to get out of dodge.

Whether it is Walt Disney World or Universal, every family’s dream is to one day visit The City Beautiful. Beaches, golf and sun make Orlando the perfect getaway for Massachusetts residents to enjoy.

The hot and vibrant Miami is second on the list and for good reason. Offering great weather, beaches, art, restaurants and culture, Miami has its wealth of professional and collegiate athletic teams as well.

A surprising third is rival, archnemesis and neighbor – New York City. It is less than four-hour car ride to get to New York City.

Could be the distance by car or train, but, yes, New York City rounds out the top three.

Rivals on and off the athletic fields, it is understandable why Massachusetts residents would visit and vice versa because each have their own food, culture, places of interest, etc.

Right now, the Yankees have a leg up on the Boston Red Sox. New York (+800) is the fourth pick to win the World Series at BetRivers New York.

The Red Sox, sitting in fourth place in the AL East, are the 10th overall pick (+3500).

The best part about it, they could always leave and head home the same day.
