With awards season officially underway —the Golden Globes were this past Sunday — the next big event will be the 75th Emmy Awards, celebrating the best in television on Monday at 8 p.m. ET (FOX).
BetMassachusetts.com took a break from Massachusetts sports betting and utilized Emmys.com to gather every actor or actress that was nominated in 2023. For this research, only Emmy categories that have actor or actress nominations were included. We used the birthplace (or hometown if moved recently after birth) to find the states that have produced the most 2023 Emmy nominees out of the 103 included.
Some categories were awarded at the Creative Emmy Awards last Sunday, but nominees are included.
States Most Represented By 2023 Emmy Nominations
Massachusetts Competes with Heavyweights
The Commonwealth tied with Illinois for third on the list with seven of 103 (6.8%), ranking only behind New York (11 of 103, 10.7%) and of course, California with 15 of 103 (14.6%).
Four of the nominees are from Boston, while the rest are from Winchester, Amherst and Longmeadow. Two of the award categories will have two Massachusetts natives up for the award. Unfortunately there are no odds from Massachusetts betting apps on award shows.
Here are the Massachusetts nominees:
- Anthony Carrigan (Winchester): Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Barry).
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Amherst): Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (The Bear).
- Jennifer Coolidge (Boston): Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (The White Lotus).
- Meghann Fahy (Longmeadow): Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (The White Lotus).
- Ayo Edebiri (Boston): Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (The Bear).
- Jeremy Strong (Boston): Best Actor in a Drama Series (Succession).
- Jasmine Guy (Boston): Guy won her first-ever Emmy on Jan. 6 during last weekend's Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. She won the award as Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her role as Barbara Baldwin in the Chronicles Of Jessica Wu series on Amazon Prime Video.
Good luck to all!
