In states like Massachusetts, we can glean a lot about what types of resolutions Bay State residents are shooting for based on the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores, with common themes such as traveling and reading more joining timeless edicts like losing weight and volunteering more this year.
Heading into the last month of the year, people are thinking about what they accomplished in 2024 and what they want to achieve in 2025. At BetMassachusetts.com, we broke from our typical Massachusetts sports betting coverage and used Google Trends to find and rank the top five most common New Year’s resolutions for Massachusetts residents. The search was conducted between December 1, 2023 – January 2, 2024. The ranking is based on the search interest score.

What Are Massachusetts’ Top NYE Resolutions?
Based on the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores, we can determine that Massachusetts residents have a desire to do things more often, with traveling more often (89 search interest score) beating out learning and reading more.
Both of those posted search interest totals of 77 points apiece, beating out the resolution of losing weight and volunteering more (63 search interest score each) for the No. 2 spot in Massachusetts, with the final quintet of topics being the most popular self-improvement steps in the new year.
Based on those totals, it’s safe to say that Massachusetts residents have their fair share of things that they want to work on come 2025, with no shortage of resolutions to choose from as January arrives at month’s end.
