Now that the trade deadline has come and gone and the regular season stretch run is upon us, it’s high time to reassess where each of the 30 teams competing in the NBA stand, with a handful of head coaches either on the league’s short list for Coach of the Year honors or on the precipice of losing their jobs.

At the top of our firing list for now are coaches in charge of teams that are league cellar dwellers like the 16-54 (.229) Utah Jazz and the 19-51 (.271) New Orleans Pelicans, with all three possibly moving on from their respective head coaches before the NBA season ends.
While the hometown Boston Celtics are currently near the top of DraftKings Sportsbook Massachusetts’ NBA title odds board right now, at +225 (behind the Oklahoma City Thunder at +175), it’s worth wondering which NBA coach will be the next out the door in the 30-team league.
Right now, we have Willie Green of the Pelicans as our top candidate to get axed next, at +315, narrowly beating out Jazz head coach Will Hardy and Chauncey Billups of the Portland Trail Blazers as our leading candidate to get axed next, with the latter two sitting at +400 right now.
Throw in former two-time national championship-winning head coach Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls at +600 and NBA champion Nick Nurse of the Philadelphia 76ers at +1100 and you have the upper end of our NBA coaching firing board covered right now, with Quin Snyder of the Atlanta Hawks and Darko Rajakovic of the Toronto Raptors rounding out the list, at +1750 each.
Both Green and Hardy entered the league’s head coaching ranks with lofty expectations, as the former was a top assistant under Monty Williams with the Phoenix Suns team that came to a win away from an NBA title. At the same time, the latter had experience on the bench with the San Antonio Spurs and Celtics, asserting himself as one of the league’s up-and-coming assistants during his time with both teams.
For now, though, the leading candidate to get booted out of the NBA next is the fourth-year Pelicans head coach, with Green sitting on a raging inferno of a hot seat as the NBA season reaches its denouement across the 30-team league's hardwood courts.
