Will Multiple Bruins Be Among NHL's Most Popular Jersey Sales?
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

The most popular way for fans of the NHL to show support for their favorite team is to purchase merchandise. Hats, shirts, assorted memorabilia and much more are purchased by fans or for fans to let everyone know exactly where their loyalties lie.

Perhaps the most convincing way to show your fandom for a certain team, rather than betting on them with the best Massachusetts sportsbooks? Wearing their jersey.

It’s no coincidence that at any team's home game, the arena is filled with fans wearing the colors of their hometown team, cheering them on and letting everyone around them know that they, too, are cheering for the home squad.

As the NHL moves forward, it is becoming a more star-driven league. People still cheer for teams, of course, and often place bets at sportsbooks like BetMGM Massachusetts. However, cheering for stars like Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin and David Pastrnak almost supersede cheering for the team. Jerseys are the perfect way to cheer for a team and also support an individual player, showing your loyalties lie with the team and the players that make the team worth watching.

The most popular jerseys are generally a sign of the most popular players, and finding out which jerseys are selling the most is a great way to discover fan engagement with certain players.

BetMassachusetts utilized Google Trends to look at the most searched NHL jerseys over the past season by utilizing the phrase “player name jersey” to predict who will be among the league's top 10 jersey sellers at the end of the season.

Below is the projected top 10 in NHL jersey sales after the current season. Keep it here at BetMass for items like this, plus the best Massachusetts sports betting promos.

Ovechkin's World

Alexander Ovechkin of the Capitals will likely hold the top spot this year, as his chase for the NHL all-time goal scoring record has rejuvenated fan interest and his recent passing of Gordie Howe for second all time on that list has fans fascinated with his performances.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid is next on our list. He has had some incredible seasons, but this one has been a step above and his jersey will likely top lists for years to come.

Two Boston Bruins make their way onto the top 10 as David Pastrnak checks in at seventh and Brad Marchand is currently 10th. The Bruins have vaulted to the top of the league with a historically great season and fans are showing their appreciation by supporting the team and its top players. They currently are the Stanley Cup favorite with +300 odds at Caesars Sportsbook Massachusetts.

Pastrnak would be the odds-on Hart Trophy favorite if it wasn’t for McDavid’s generational season. The Czech superstar sits second in the league in goals and fourth in points while leading Boston to the best record in the league. Boston fans clearly aren’t worried about his contract running out after the season, as they have been purchasing his jersey in large numbers all year long, counting on him to commit long-term to Boston as they commit to him.

Marchand has long been one of the league's most polarizing figures, but in Boston he has always been revered. He once again sits above a point per game and slots in perfectly with Patrice Bergeron on one of the best two-way lines in NHL history.

Massachusetts hockey fans have also shown heavy interest in Ovechkin jerseys, supporting him as he chases down Wayne Gretzky’s goal record. Colorado Avalanche star defenseman and reigning Norris and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Cale Makar is another popular search in the area, likely going back to his college roots when he played for the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The Bruins come first, but when it comes to showing appreciation for other players, anyone with Massachusetts roots are a step ahead in this region.
