Now that the NFL regular season has come and gone, we can officially know where each of the 18 teams that failed to reach the postseason will draft in April’s first round of the made-for-TV spectacle.
In New England, we know that the 4-13 Patriots will have the fourth pick in the event, behind the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants in the 32-team league, which will allow whichever head coach replaces Jerod Mayo to land a generational talent when the draft kicks off in Green Bay.
At BetMassachusetts.com - your top source for Massachusetts sportsbook promos - we used The Football Database to determine what draft pick position teams with 4-13 records get since the 2021 NFL season. We only calculated the 4-13 teams first selection positions, finding the average and median first-pick positions for the draft following their 4-13 record.

Where Do NFL 4-13 Teams Draft?
It turns out that the Patriots followed the NFL’s trend line perfectly when it came to the franchise’s first round draft pick location, with New England landing the exact spot that both the average and median teams that finish 4-13 have secured since 2021.
As for who Patriots GM Eliot Wolf will target, the team at NFL.com projects New England to go after some offensive line depth in the first round, naming offensive tackle as the club’s biggest draft day need, along with interior offensive line, wide receiver, edge rusher and cornerback.
For now, what we know is that the Patriots will have a new man calling the shots come this fall, as Mayo was shown the door on Sunday evening after a single season in charge of the franchise, with the former Patriots legend being the latest “one-and-done” head coach in the win-now NFL.
