Will Campbell 2025 NFL Draft Projections and Odds

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

The New England Patriots pick fourth in the first round of the NFL Draft and such a high selection gives them a chance to pick someone who could instantly turn a weakness into a strength.

The franchise has several pressing needs to regain competitiveness and improve New England Patriots odds for 2025. But as the Philadelphia Eagles demonstrated with their Super Bowl win, games and championships are won in the trenches. New England must give quarterback Drake Maye better protection, and thereā€™s one player available who can accomplish that: LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell.

After being the most dominant NFL franchise for the first two decades of the 21st century, the Patriots have fallen. Theyā€™ve strung together back-to-back 4-13 seasons and have finished under .500 in four of the past five. Bill Belichick ruled the sidelines for 24 seasons, but now New England will have its third coach in as many years with Mike Vrabel replacing Jerod Mayo.

New England Patriots 2025 NFL Draft Needs

Every NFL team threw for 3,000 yards last season except one: New England. In 17 games, the Pats gained just 2,995 yards through the air. Thatā€™s despite completing 342 passes last season, 22nd overall in the league. Small wonder their chances of success are not thought of highly ā€“ the BetMGM Massachusetts Sportsbook lists New England at +12500 odds to win Super Bowl 60 in February 2026.

Patriots quarterbacks were sacked 52 times in the 2024-25 season. That was tied with Tennessee for the fifth-most in the league. Further, New England QBs scrambled, officially defined as rushing attempts on designed passing plays, 56 times last season. Only the Washington Commanders had more.

If the Patriots give Maye better protection, then he should be able to do better than average 6.7 yards per attempt. That was tied for 27th among 39 eligible quarterbacks last season. Thatā€™s where Campbell comes into the picture, perhaps giving the team and its backers at Massachusetts sportsbooks a boost.

Must be 21+. MA Only. Subject to eligibility requirements. Bonus bets are non-withdrawable. In Partnership with MGM Springfield.

Why Will Campbell Fits In New England

Last season LSU averaged more than 315 passing yards per game, second in the SEC. And the Tigers allowed just 15 sacks in 13 games, a rate that was tied for 14th best among all Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

Campbell was the anchor on the Tigers o-line. He missed just one of LSUā€™s 39 games during his three years in Baton Rouge, with an illness. In 24 SEC games, he missed just eight snaps, and those were the final eight snaps in 41-14 win over Mississippi State in 2023.

In those snaps, 2,553 in all, Campbell allowed just five sacks. Three of those were as a true freshman in 2022. He played 24 straight games without giving up a sack, a streak that ended against Florida, the Tigersā€™ 10th game in 2024. Campbell earned consensus All-American honors, with the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, Football Writers Association and Walter Camp Football Foundation naming him on their first team.

Some have questioned Campbellā€™s arm length and ability to block quicker edge rushers, but most agree that Campbell has a future in the league. If not at tackle, then analysts say heā€™d also become a solid guard. Check out our New England Patriots 2025 NFL Draft Odds to see where we ranked Campbell.

Among the mock drafts picking Campbell to go to Foxboro include Trevor Sikkemaā€™s for Pro Football Focus, Field Yatesā€™ for ESPN, Nick Bamgardnerā€™s for The Athletic, and Cynthia Frelundā€™s, Lance Zierleinā€™s and Daniel Jeremiahā€™s for NFL.com.
