As we speed our way towards Opening Day, it’s worth wondering which MLB teams are being searched for the most overseas, with league stalwarts like the Boston Red Sox ranking among the leaders when it comes to popularity outside of the United States.
Boston will be one of four teams to participate in the MLB’s international series this year, with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees heading south of the border to play each other inside Estadio Mobil Super in Monterrey, Mexico in a pair of exhibitions on March 24 and 25.
The other international gala pits the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs against each other in a regular season series in Tokyo on March 18 and 19, formally kicking off the 2025 MLB season, with the two NL squads facing off inside the Tokyo Dome.

Of the 30 teams in today’s MLB, the Red Sox ranked 10th overall when it came to international search interest scores, with Boston finishing the period in question with a total of 10 points, ranking behind the Atlanta Braves (11 search interest score) for 10th overall.
Leaguewide, the Yankees (30 search interest score), Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers (15 search interest score each), Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners (14 search interest score each) were the most popular teams overseas, while the Texas Rangers (13 search volume score), San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers (12 search interest score each) were ahead of the Braves and Red Sox.
Still, when the Red Sox and Yankees head to Mexico in late March, they’ll do so with a legion of supporters behind them, as Boston ranks as one of the most popular MLB teams outside of the States, thanks to the team’s solid play over the years.
