Garrett Crochet’s Best Month of The Season

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

One of the biggest moves the Boston Red Sox made in the offseason was acquiring pitcher Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox. The 6-foot-6 left-handed starter is expected to be the ace of the Red Sox rotation this season.

Crochet was one of the few bright spots for the White Sox last season. He made 32 starts and struck out a whopping 209 batters in just 146 innings pitched. He won the American League Comeback Player of the Year Award last season after missing the entire 2022 campaign due to Tommy John surgery and most of 2023’s while he battled shoulder inflammation.

Some players just play better in certain months. Utilizing BaseballReference.com and our Massachusetts sports betting experts, BetMassachusetts.com developed the statistics for Garrett Crochet’s best month of the season. For Crochet, these are the statistics for just the 2024 season. March is excluded due to the sample size.

Crochet was primarily effective in May and June, when he was used the most. His performance in June earned him the AL’s Pitcher of the Month Award. That’s when he struck out 56 of the 148 batters he faced. After June, Crochet never pitched more than four innings in any of his 14 starts.

The Red Sox hurler enters the 2025 MLB season as the second choice to win the AL Cy Young Award at Caesars Massachusetts Sportsbook. His odds of +450 are only longer than defending Cy Young winner’s Tarik Skubal at +300.

Is 2025 Boston’s Comeback Year?

Interested in betting on the Sox to win it all this year? Their odds to do so are +1800 at Massachusetts Fanatics sportsbook.

Boston has made the playoffs only once since winning its last World Series title in 2018. Last year’s squad finished 81-81, 13 games back of the New York Yankees in the AL East.

This year, though, thanks to the acquisitions of Crochet and third baseman Alex Bregman, oddsmakers are bullish on the Sox’s chances to play in October. BetMGM Sportsbook gives the Red Sox odds of +260 to win the division for the first time since 2018. The Yankees remain the favorite at +165.

Boston’s odds of -140 to make the playoffs at FanDuel are the fourth shortest behind the Yanks (-215), Baltimore Orioles (-164) and Detroit Tigers (-152).

BetMassachusetts.com is your home for the latest news on all of Boston’s sports teams. It’s also the place where you can get the best Massachusetts sports betting promo codes and read reviews on all of the sportsbooks licensed to operate in the Bay State.
