After missing out in each of the last three seasons, 2025 is the year that fans of the Boston Red Sox hope will bring the AL East club back to the sport’s postseason, with the New England mainstay hoping for great things after going .500 a year ago.
BetMassachusetts.com took a quick break from Massachusetts sports betting coverage and utilized Fangraphs.com to gather the 2025 salary information and projected 2025 WAR. Once acquiring that information, we divided the salary by the player’s projected WAR to determine the player’s potential value.

Most Undervalued Boston Red Sox on 2025 Roster
Player | 2025 Salary | 2025 Projected WAR | Value (Salary Per WAR) * |
Triston Casas (First Baseman) | $800,000 | 2.2 | $363,636 |
Wilyer Abreu (Outfielder) | $800,000 | 2.0 | $400,000 |
Ceddanne Rafaela (Outfielder) | $1,250,000 | 1.5 | $833,333 |

Note: Some players’ salaries are represented by their salary before arbitration. Only players projected on the Opening Day 40-Man Roster were included.
Which Red Sox Players Will Produce the Most Value?
Right now, oddsmakers from Massachusetts DraftKings Sportsbook have high hopes for the Sox, giving Boston a preseason win total over/under of 86.5 and -105 odds of making the playoffs in 2025, with a trio of youthful everyday players hoping to guide the club back to relevance this season.
That trio is the homegrown trio of first baseman Triston Casas and outfielders Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela, who are all expected to put up big numbers for Boston this season, with Casas expected to post the highest WAR total of them all (per FanGraphs.com), at 2.2.
Throw in Abreu (2.0 WAR) and Rafaela (1.5 WAR) and you have the production side of the up-and-coming trio covered, though that’s only part of the equation, as Casas’ value becomes even more impressive when you consider how he’s slated to earn the league minimum of $800,000 in 2025.
That means the 2018 first-round pick out of American Heritage School is slated to put up an estimated value (salary per WAR) of $363,636, which ranks ahead of Abreu ($400,000 value) and Rafaela ($833,33 value), as Abreu is slated to also earn $800,000 this year while Rafaela will earn $1.250 million in 2025.
Of the three, Casas is expected to bash the most home runs, per Fangraphs.com, with a projection of 27 in 139 games played, while Abreu (17 in 112 games) and Rafaela (12 in 100 games) are expected to add more value as contact hitters this season.
Regardless of how they provide value, the Boston trio of Abreu, Casas and Rafaela are expected to power the team’s lineup in 2025, with the AL East stalwart looking to return to relevance after three years of mediocrity when the MLB regular season starts this spring.
