What Do Massachusetts Residents Search Most Among Car Brands?

Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

It’s simply impossible to avoid traveling by vehicle, making owning your own vehicle a borderline must in most parts of the states. More and more diversity has appeared on the market, with several safe, reliable options to go along with several fast ones.

BetMassachusetts.com took a brief break from covering Massachusetts sportsbooks to see to see exactly which car brands are most popular across the United States, with an emphasis on which types of vehicles are most popular in each state.

We did this by using CarLogos.org as a starting point to find the 50 most popular car brands, and then using Google Trends to search each car brand to see the highest level of interest in each state for the brand.

After completing the trends for a 12-month cycle from July 25, 2022 to July 25, 2023, we were able to average out the results to get the top car brand for each state.

Audi Choice in Bay State

Honda dominated the rankings, taking first place in seven states - Alaska, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Dodge and Ford came next, with five and four states preferring those vehicles.

We were primarily interested in seeing which vehicles were most popular in Massachusetts, and the data from the search shows that the most popular vehicle brand in Massachusetts is Audi. Audi tied with Ford having four separate states search for them the most, including Colorado, Connecticut and New York.

Coming in behind them were Mercedes-Benz, Chevrolet, Volkswagen and Mazda with three states each.

Audi, the most popular vehicle in Massachusetts, has its headquarters in Germany and is considered a luxury automobile brand that focuses on high-end technology and advanced manufacturing techniques. There are 11 Audi dealerships in Massachusetts, good for 4% of the total dealerships in the country. However, with a little more than 625,000 people per dealership in the state, Massachusetts has the most dealerships per person in the country.

Honda being the most popular brand doesn’t come as much of a surprise, and even in Massachusetts they are heavily owned, with the Accord being the most driven car in the state and the Civic ranking third. Those two cars account for almost 6% of all of the cars in the entire country.

While the Civic and Accord’s reliability and affordability will always keep it popular, not everyone is looking that way when it comes to vehicles, especially in Massachusetts. Audi is a definite jump up in price range, but residents of Massachusetts aren’t fazed, putting them ahead of Honda as the most popular brand of vehicle in the country.
