Betr Has Launched in Mass. Sports Betting
Fact Checked by Pat McLoone

The newest legal Massachusetts sports betting operator is looking for knockout results.

Co-founded by YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and Joey Levy – a new sportsbook officially launched this week in the Commonwealth: Betr.

This is the second state in which Betr has launched. Betr started its first real money gaming product in Ohio in January and launched a free-to-play app in 48 states, including Massachusetts, in September 2022. Now, Betr Massachusetts is live.

In August 2022, Paul (President) and Joey Levy (CEO) founded Betr. Levy also is the founder of Simplebet.

Paul is a social media personality and professional boxer (6-1, 4 KOs), who lost a split-decision to Tommy Fury on Feb. 26, despite Fury being knocked down in the eighth round.

While the new brand doesn't have the most appealing welcome bonus when compared to other Massachusetts sportsbook promos, it does have a unique sports betting experience.

More About Betr

Unique Betr was the first operator in the nation to ban credit cards as a method of depositing, unlike other Massachusetts betting apps. They currently accepts only debit cards and will be expanding to include PayPal and online banking shortly. It also has implemented deposit limits for users between the ages of 21 to 25.

What Are They Saying? “We are excited to bring Betr to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” Levy said when Betr was approved in mid-January. “Thank you to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission for all their hard work and collaboration. This is an important milestone for us and we can’t wait to bring our differentiated product experience to sports fans throughout the state.”

How Betr Got Here

On Jan. 10, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved Betr to operate in the state. Nine days later, all six untethered Category 3 (online) sportsbook license applications were approved. The six were: BallyBet, Betr, Betway, DraftKings Massachusetts, FanDuel Massachusetts and PointsBet.

Betr chose not to launch when the other five went live. Retail sports betting in the state launched on Jan. 31 in three casinos and mobile sports betting launched on March 10.
