Sports betting in Massachusetts is now legal, and plenty of interest has been shown with mobile sports betting apps, online betting sites, and retails sportsbooks.
BetMassachusetts.com looked at which cities in the Bay State have been the most interested in sports wagering in recent history. Utilizing Google searches of “sports betting” over the last 12 months, we were able to gather data from each of the Top 10 most populated cities in Massachusetts.
Cities with Most Interest in Sports Betting
Here is what we found:
There are three casinos with retail sportsbooks where you can place a wager: MGM Springfield (BetMGM), Encore Boston Harbor in Everett (WynnBET) and Plainridge Park Casino (Barstool Sportsbook).
For those looking to place bets on New England Patriots Super Bowl odds or other wagers, the Plainridge Park location may be the best option.
Two of the three cities listed have retail sportsbooks right in their own backyards: Springfield (fifth), which is the farthest city from Boston on the list (91 miles, 1 hour, 38 minutes by car), has MGM Springfield. Boston (10th) has Encore Boston Harbor.
The top city, Cambridge, is the closest listed city to Boston at 6.3 miles away (17 minutes) with a population of just shy of 120,000, according to the 2020 Census. Cambridge is followed in proximity by Lynn (eighth) at 10.5 miles (41 minutes) with a population of 101,253 and Quincy (second) at 13 miles (47 minutes) with a population of 101,636.
By the way, per the 2020 Census, Boston has a population of 675,647.
