With the NCAA Hockey Men’s Frozen Four taking place at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, on April 11, Massachusetts sports fans will have to wait to root on their hometown heroes: Boston University and Boston College.
This weekend, will Commonwealth fans have any interest in the NCAA Men's College Basketball Final Four beginning Saturday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona? The first game of the doubleheader is top-seeded Purdue (33-4) against 11th-seeded North Carolina State (26-14) at 6:09 p.m. ET. The nightcap features defending champion and top-seeded Connecticut (35-3) versus fourth-seeded Alabama (25-11) at approx. 8:49 p.m.
As you can see, no state teams are available for Massachusetts sportsbooks, but that doesn't mean Commonwealth fans don't have a rooting interest. BetMassachusetts.com used Google Trends search interest scores to compare search volume for each of the four remaining teams in the NCAA Men’s March Madness. These results were tracked on a scale of 1-100 and from the start of March Madness (March 18) through April 1. Here are the fan favorites for Massachusetts:
