Recently, many of you watched the 10-part TV series called “The Dynasty: New England Patriots” on Apple TV featuring never-before-seen footage of the Patriots' 20-year journey to greatness.
But who is most responsible for the Patriots success? If Massachusetts sports betting sites took odds on such things, there is one clear favorite.
BetMassachusetts.com posted a Survey on r/Patriots that was open for three days (March 27-29, 2024) with the question, “Who is Most Responsible for the Patriots Dynasty?” The survey generated 582 total votes. The results are below:
Person Most Responsible for Patriots Dynasty
BetMGM Massachusetts lists San Francisco as the Super Bowl favorite at +600 odds, followed by back-to-back champion Kansas City at +650.
Tom Terrific Receives Most of the Credit
We all know the three main characters and all three are intertwined, but who topped the list for the responsibility of building the New England region powerhouse in the league where they play for pay?
None other than quarterback Tom Brady, who garnered 378 votes (64.9% of the vote). Winning his first Super Bowl at the young age of 24, Brady has played in nine Super Bowls with the Patriots, winning six of them (Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII) and is the only player to have won five Super Bowl MVP awards (four with New England, one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), winning for the Pats in 2002, 2004, 2015 and 2017.
Former coach Bill Belichick was second on the list with 180 votes (30.9%). All six of the Patriots' Super Bowl titles have come under the tutelage of Belichick, who after this season was let go by the Pats after 24 years at the helm. He is the most successful head coach in NFL history, compiling a 333-178 record (including the playoffs).
Under new coach Jerod Mayo, Massachusetts betting apps list the Patriots as +12500 to win the Super Bowl.
Owner Robert Kraft, the only one to stand the test of time in Foxborough and who has owned the franchise since 1994, rounded out the top three with 24 votes (4.1%). The financial architect of the franchise, Kraft lured Belichick away from the New York Jets and a few months later drafted a young, brash quarterback out of the University of Michigan with the No. 199 pick (sixth round) of the 2000 NFL Draft.
The rest they say is history.
