Matthew Judon Trade Odds: Patriots Finally Trade Judon To Falcons

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

Finally, the curious case of Matthew Judon and the New England Patriots has come to an end. The four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher is off to Atlanta in exchange for a 2025 third-round draft pick, according to ESPN.

Judon at Pats training camp on July 29 was spotted having multiple animated conversations with both coach Jerod Mayo and GM Eliot Wolf, as he remained without an extension to the last year of his contract, an issue he previously raised on Twitter this past offseason.

Judon had been occasionally suiting up in practice, though his back and forth with the Patriots over the summer never found a resolution.

BetMassachusetts.com had hypothetical odds to predict which team would pick him up all offseason.

Judon Off To Chase A Ring In Atlanta

Given the proximity to the NFL’s opening week of the regular season, it seemed possible New England would keep the veteran linebacker in Foxborough for 2024. But with the Falcons all in on a Super Bowl pursuit with new QB Kirk Cousins and new coach Raheem Morris, and the Patriots entering a full rebuild after 20+ years of Bill Belichick, this deal makes sense for both sides.

We'll see how the 31-year-old out of Grand Valley State plays with his new franchise, but be sure Pats fans will miss him when it comes to getting pressure on their opposing quarterbacks this season.
